I started programming in 1977. I bought my first personal computer in 1980. I was told I was good at mathematics in high school, so I needed to be an accountant. Once I discovered computers, I was hooked. I have been a technologist since.
My story is that I never had the personality to be an accountant, so I had to become a programmer. People who know me don’t quite get that joke, since, being left and right brained, I am a creative force in the world of technology. And having performed street theater, I definitely have the reputation of being entertaining, inspirational, and “out there” — not quite the reputation of a programmer sitting in a basement drinking Red Bull and eating potato chips.
Right before the pandemic, I stepped back from my technology career to become a full-time professional speaker. It was time for me to follow my passion, purpose, my calling. Even though I am skilled at remote video presentations, my preference is speaking for live audiences. Bringing street theater interaction and motivation works really well in person, and the impact I have is strong. I spent a few more years in technology, but now… now, it is time. I teach people how to Make a Difference in their world, and now, it is my time to step into my own passion, purpose, calling.
